New and exciting destinations. Total privacy. The freedom to explore, indulge and discover, at your own pace. Chartering a yacht is not for everyone, but if you seek a holiday that offers that extra ‘wow’ factor, then this is the right choice for you.

There can be a lot to think about, so we hope you find this advice useful when planning your first yacht charter.

What is the minimum length of charter?

We quote charter rates per week (seven days), for example, Saturday to Saturday for Fiji and the Maldives, and in accordance with a preset timetable for leaving and returning to the marina. Please note this may change depending on the flight schedule for locations such as the Marshall Islands.

Are transfers included?

Depending on your charter location, we will set a meeting point. For example, in Fiji, we will meet you at Port Denarau where we start our charters, which is an approximate 20-minute journey from Nadi International Airport. We recommend Tewaka, who are a highly reputable Fijian transport operator: tewaka.com.fj/airport-transfers. Alternatively, you can book through your preferred travel advisor. Please make sure you reserve a large enough vehicle for all of your surf equipment: you don’t want to leave anyone behind!

What travel documents do I need?

To enter the destination country, you must have a valid passport and, where required, a valid visa or health declaration form. You are fully liable for the existence, propriety and validity of your travel documents, and to ensure you are eligible to travel and enter the destination country with your travel documents. Your passport needs to be in good condition and signed by yourself. Some countries require that passports are valid for a minimum period beyond your trip. These regulations may vary per country, make sure to check and comply with those before your travel. For more specific visa and passport requirements, visit the website or contact the Consulate or Embassy of the country you are planning to visit.

Are there any entry restrictions?

There are restrictions on importing alcohol, vaping devices, or pork products into the Maldives (these will be confiscated on arrival). If you are coming from a country listed as a transmission risk, you must have a certificate to prove you’ve had a vaccination against certain tropical diseases (for example yellow fever). We advise you visit the website or contact the Consulate or Embassy of the country you are planning to visit for specific restrictions, religious observance, customs rules, medication limits, or photography and diving equipment restrictions.

How are the cabins set up?

Our yachts offer four cabins, all with queen-sized beds. The cabins are built to be flexible, whereby the beds can be split and partitioned to create two single beds, with a temporary “wall” for those who would like to sleep separately. If you prefer a twin, please advise us at the time of booking.

What food and beverage can I expect on board?

All meals, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks are included in the charter fee, along with invitation sundowners, destination dining experience, and signature beach bbq. If you like to imbibe, we can tailor a drinks package in advance.

Can I specify my menus?

We have one cook on board, and menus are prepared by our culinary director ahead of time. Well before you board your yacht, our culinary director will send a detailed questionnaire so that you can describe the preferences of all the members of your party, including dietary or medical requirements, details of any allergies, and any specific entertainment or destination dining requests (we do love an “I do”). Dietary requirements must be advised a minimum of 30 days prior to departure. This will enable us and the crew of your chosen yacht to ensure that the galley is set up accordingly and everything possible is done to make your charter a wonderful experience. This doesn’t mean we’re inflexible! As you enjoy time on or under the water, our cook will perform culinary wonders with locally sourced ingredients. You catch it, we’ll cook it!

What else is included in the charter?

  • We provide sustainable bathroom amenities and reef friendly suncream so feel free to leave all plastic bottles behind.
  • Non-motorized watersports equipment (such as snorkelling) is free to use (depending on weather conditions) and we can also plan guided cultural explorations and recreational activities.
  • Free Starlink with up to 50GB data per trip.
  • Pilates on demand on TV, plus yoga mats.
  • Theraguns for sore muscles / Recovery boots.
  • Hairdryers.
  • Garment steamers.
  • Golf with sustainable golf balls.
  • Board games.
  • Kindles.

What housekeeping is included?

Cabins are cleaned every day. To maximise space and for sustainability, bedding is changed every four days. There are no personal laundry facilities on board.

Can I bring pets?

No. Please leave Fido and Tinkerbell at home. They will thank you for it.

What are the water safety rules for children on board?

We welcome children aged 4 and over with a certificate of competency (CoC)for swimming. Children under 12 years old must wear a life jacket on deck at all times. We also provide safety bracelets to wear onboard with a water alarm to offer an extra layer of protection

What are the rules for watersports toys and equipment?

In certain countries, a Certificate of Competency (CoC) is required to participate in some activities (mechanically propelled watercraft). Any liability arising from non-compliance is entirely at your own risk. If you are bringing scuba equipment on board, it may only be used by certified divers holding a certified PADI license or equivalent. Please note: you are welcome to invite a surf or dive instructor on board as part of your charter experience but this will reduce the number of guest cabins (four) we can allocate to your party as a whole.

Can I smoke on board?

For all kinds of health and safety reasons – no. However, if this is a dealbreaker, please contact us.

Am I covered by insurance?

We recommend you take out your own independent travel insurance to cover cancellations, curtailments, or unforeseen circumstances that may prevent or shorten your charter. All members of your party should be covered by personal accident and/or medical insurance, and your personal items should be insured against theft, loss, damage, or an accidental dip in the sea. Other forms of insurance such as Charterer’s Liability are also advisable and at your discretion.

What deposit is required to guarantee the charter?

A deposit of 25% is required to confirm your charter. The payment balance is required 30 days prior to departure.

What are the standard cancellation terms?

  • Up to 60 days prior to departure: 25% of charter charge
  • Between 59 and 30 days prior to departure: 75% of charter charge
  • Less than 30 days prior to departure: 100% of charter charge

How much should I tip the crew?

Crew gratuities are at your discretion. If you have enjoyed your charter, crew gratuities are normally in the region of 10% of the charter fee.
